Promo cards have become an integral part of the Pokemon TCG over the decades. More importantly, these cards are often tied to specific regions, making them highly sought-after collectibles. When it comes to the recent McDonald’s promo cards, they are still fairly cheap to obtain.
The McDonald’s Mega Evolution Promo Cards
Although most Pokemon TCG collectors are familiar with the McDonald’s promo cards – especially Burgerchu – not everyone knows the bigger story. All of these cards are considered Mega Evolution promo cards. More specifically, they were issued during the overarching Mega Evolution era, which has been going on since August 1, 2025.
It is almost wild to think we are only 1 year into the Mega Evolution arc of the Pokemon TCG. Sometimes, one has the impression the sets in this series have been around for a little while longer. Even so, the first official promos for this “era” started appearing as of August 1 2025, courtesy of Makura Tami’s Chicorita.
However, the McDonald’s promo cards are the one getting more attention. They span Pikachu, Sprigatito, Riolu, Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Ralts. All of these pocket monsters have large individual fan bases, making them perfect candidates for these cards.
Curiously, only one of the cards is considered “valuable”. No one will be surprised that it is Pikachu, or in this case, “Burgerchu”. It doesn’t look too different from the others, except for eating an actual hamburger. The other cards are reprints of earlier designs, with a McDonald’s logo stamped on the front.
Steep Price Drops Excite Collectors
For the people who use Cardmarket – or alternatives elsewhere – sourcing these promo cards is not too difficult. One can easily find them, as they benefit from tremendous liquidity. Burgerchu is the one commanding the highest price, at 24 euro for a Near Mint Japanese copy. That card in question is M-P 020, for anyone planning to acquire it.
Curiously, Burgerchu had a price spike to triple-digit values around 1 month ago. Someone clearly tried to inflate the price for it, but things normalized shortly after. It has not been below 22.95 euro on Cardmarket yet, although its current price trajectory seems to indicate that is a matter of time.
None of the other cards have seen similar price spikes, though. Sprigatito spiked at 14 euro and plummeted the week after to around 2 euro. Riolu topped out at 3 euro and now hovers around 1 euro. We see similar trends for Fuecoco (2.6 euro vs 1.29 euro), Quaxly (30 euro vs 0.8 euro), and Ralts (25 euro vs 0.95 euro).
McDonald’s Promos Are a Budget Buy
The term “budget buy” has a different meaning to everyone. Getting 6 cards for around 40 euro – including shipping from 3 different sellers – may seem like an expensive purchase. However, it is crucial to remember over half the cost is the Burgerchu card. It remains the most expensive McDonald’s Pokemon TCG promo from Mega Evolution by a MILE.
Thankfully, you can buy the Fuecoco, Ralts, and Riolu (depending on how you plan to buy them) for under 2 euro a piece. The Sprigatito and Quaxly can, for near mint copies, bought for 2.5 euro combined. That is still a pretty good overall deal, and makes these cards fairly affordable to collectors.
It is also important to remember these are Japanese promo cards. There are other Mega Evolution promo cards in Korean, but these differ from the McDonald’s ones. If you want the correct ones, there is no other option than to buy the Japanese cards. That is not a bad thing, as those cards are higher quality, better cardboard, and have a better overall finish.
