In this modern age of the Pokemon TCG, it all comes down to having fun. For a lot of people, fun involves ripping physical packs, as it is a very pleasant experience. Unfortunately, rising prices and tough restocks have made that a bit more difficult. Thankfully, there are digital pokemon ripping sites too, and today, we are looking at Gacha Slabz.
An Introduction to Gacha Slabz
As the name suggests, Gacha Slabz is a gacha-inspired platform where you can spin the wheel for Pokemon cards. If you hit the right combination you can get a Grail or Holy Grail. Both of those types can – and often will – include graded cards spanning Japanese or English languages. Keep in mind that each spin or rip is for ONE card only, not booster packs.
Although the platform is still in Beta, the functionality is there, for the most part. Depositing funds is done via cryptocurrency – with support for the USDC stablecoin on various blockchains. Users can opt for depositing funds via Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, and BNB Chain. There is no option for payments via card or Apple/Google Pay [at this time?]
In exchange for depositing funds, users can explore the gacha side of this platform. You can opt for Spinz or Gacha Ripz. The Spinz occur one at a time, for $2 or $5 per spin. On the right side, you can see which potential hits can come your way. Cards will come out as Bulk, Common, Rare, Chase, Grail, or Holy Grail. However, keep in mind the odds primarily favor Bulk and Common cards, thus breaking even on every spin might prove tricky.
Speaking of breaking even, Gacha Slabz states users can – on average – get a 102% theoretical return. This is based on sets of 100 spins or more, so do not expect to be in profit on spin 5, unless you get lucky. It is good to see some digital ripping transparency on this front, though, so no one gets their hopes up unnecessarily.
Controlling Odds and Risk
When it comes to gacha-style gambling, your odds are usually “fixed”. In a gachapon, you can either hit or miss, nothing in between. With video games, you often have a percentage-based chance to win the big “hit”, with a “pity timer” to boost your odds after a certain threshold. Both systems are valid, yet neither applies to Gacha Slabz.
Instead, there is an option on the left hand side to control the odds. You can opt for “conservative”, “balanced”, or “aggressive”. Every option will shift the odds from “mainly bulk” to “mainly common” and effect the rate of getting a “rare” card. Moreover, your odds for the Chase, Grail, and Holy Grail will adjust as well.
Shifting the odds will also change your chance of breaking even or better. On Conservative, those odds sit at 39.1% per pull, whereas aggressive has them at 18.8%. In exchange, your Grail pull chance increases from 10.4% to 52.4%. Once again, these are all rates PER 100 PULLS on average.
As is always the case with ventures like these, your luck will determine everything. I have some good cards in my Slabz section, as you can see below. However, I have also hit runs where my ROI is 35% or lower when spending $40-$100. Statistical odds are statistical, and the real-world experience can and often will differ a bit, so prepare accordingly.
Using Gacha Slabz
Functionality-wise, the platform is pretty straightforward. Once you deposit funds, you opt for either the Gacha Ripz or Spinz. In the case of Gacha Ripz, you have a $2 and $5 tier. In essence, you will do 20 or 50 openings in a row for the value you selected. This process cannot be interrupted, so make your choice wisely. The Holy Grails and Grails will also adjust based on the amount per spin spent.
Spinz work a bit differently. They occur one at a time, allowing for a more controlled experience. Users can set the “cost” to $2 or $5, although a $10 option is coming soon. Grails and Holy Grails for Spinz are the same as for Gacha Slabz, and are based on the amount spent per spin.
You will also see an option to “redeem free spin” at the top. It is entirely possible to collect free spins from Gacha Slabz by going over to the “Earn” tab. There are usually a few social platform tasks involving X and Instagram to complete. Once you complete enough of them, you get a free spin to be used on the Spinz section. Just click the “minus” arrow next to the dollar amount until it says “Free”.
When you complete your spin or Gacha Ripz, it is time to decide which cards to keep. All cards can be sold back immediately, but not for the full market value. Cards kept will appear in the “My Slabz” section, as you can see below. Any leftover balance in your wallet can be taken out again, although it is currently limited to USDC on Solana only.
Features Coming Later
We started this article by explaining Gacha Slabz is still in beta. Not all functionality is implemented at this time. For instance, the $10 option for Spins is coming soon. It is unclear if this will also come to the Gacha Ripz option, but it could be an interesting addition.
Another feature to look forward to is the option to get the cards you really want to keep shipped to you. Gacha Slabz will provide global shipping, and all cards are in a PSA Vault in either Asia or the US. However, setting up the logistics for mass shipping is a tricky ordeal, although the feature will still go live later in 2026.
Overall Verdict
Using Gacha Slabz is straightforward, but might be a bit daunting to non-cryptocurrency users. Having to acquire USDC and using specific blockchains is not everyone’s cup of tea. An option to use more traditional payment options would go a long way for the platform. It will be interesting to see if they opt for that option further down the line.
Overall, the system is simple, for either Spinz or Gacha Ripz. The latter appeals more to me, as you can see cards pop up one after another. Below, you can see a video montage of me changing the odds and seeing which one gives the better results.
One thing I wouldn’t mind seeing added to the platform is a social hub. You can share your rips on socials, but there is no “live chat” with active users or anything. I understand that is not something everyone wants, but it could be a good way to strengthen the community, maybe do some giveaways or contests, etc.
